Biography and the founding of Tidely
Niclas Storz has over two decades of experience in the financial world and business consulting. After a traineeship at Deutsche Bank, he studied industrial engineering and business administration at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. He began his career at Kearney and later spent over 17 years at The Boston Consulting Group — most recently as Senior Partner & Managing Director with a focus on cash management & payments, operations & technology and digitalization in banking. In this role, he supported numerous international transformation projects in the financial sector.
At the end of 2019, he decided to take the plunge into entrepreneurship — and thus a new form of responsibility. Instead of just making recommendations, he wanted to design it himself and develop a sustainable solution. With Tidely he founded a FinTech that focuses on a topic that, in his experience, is often overlooked by small and medium-sized companies: Liquidity as a central management instrument.
What he saw time and time again: Liquidity robs many CEOs and CFOs of small and medium-sized companies of sleep. Payment flows are difficult to plan, financial leeway is often unclear — and there is a lack of reliable, easy-to-use tools. Most people still work with Excel, even though it was never done for that purpose. Excel is extremely time-consuming, error-prone and does not provide real-time data — yet this is essential in times of economic uncertainty. While banks and large companies can draw on their own IT departments, consulting budgets and tailor-made systems, small companies often lack a structured overview of their financial situation.
Tidely starts right there. The goal: Give small and medium-sized companies the opportunity to manage their liquidity simply, automatically and in real time. The software links bank accounts, accounting data and other financial systems, enables scenario analyses, creates automatic forecasts for future development and thus provides clear decision-making bases for daily business.
Today, over 1,000 companies use Tidely to identify financial bottlenecks at an early stage, realistically assess growth opportunities and actively ensure their economic stability.

The approach of Niclas Storz: Liquidity First
With Tidely, Niclas is following a clear principle: “Liquidity First. ”
For him, liquidity is not just a financial issue, but the lifeline of every company. In a world where cash flows are becoming more volatile, external crises are becoming more frequent or unforeseen, and growth plans are becoming more capital-intensive, adequate and predictable liquidity is crucial.
Accounting and annual financial statements look into the past — what counts is managing the future. Niclas is convinced that companies must always know how much room they have left, when critical phases will occur and what measures they can take proactively. Liquidity is the basis for investments, personnel decisions and resilience — and it must no longer be left to gut feeling.
Because: Liquidity is not a side issue — it is a prerequisite for entrepreneurial ability to act. In this masterclass, Niclas Storz, founder and CEO of Tidely, explains exactly why liquidity is so crucial.
Private
Despite his intensive working day, Niclas Storz consciously takes time for his family. He lives in Munich with his wife and two small children - his two older daughters are completing their respective courses of study in Münster and Aachen. Nature and mountains are his retreat — for hiking, thinking and changing perspectives. That's where the best ideas often come from. He is an avid skier and former field hockey player.
